Salary of whites and blacks should match in 32 years, says Ipea

One of the main factors of inequality between racial groups in Brazil is the inequality of income, as points survey by the Institute of Applied Economic Research (Ipea), disclosed this Tuesday (13). It would take 32 years for whites and blacks had, on average the same income.

According to the survey, in the last five years was the first time, a trend of reducing racial differentials in income. From 2001 until the present time, there was a reduction in inequalities.

As the points Ipea, the reason is the implementation of public policies and social, greatly benefiting the black population, since 80% of the poorest population is composed of blacks and 80% of the population is composed of rich whites.

The lower income of black Brazilians entails a series of consequences, from the dependence of educational and health services provided by the state to housing in areas that are not conditions of adequate sanitation and urbanization.

A system of universal social security, universal access to education and institutions that guarantee a good performance of the labour market for all are important to reduce racial inequality, but are not sufficient to reduce the inequality in the future.
