Governor endorses, and Rio de Janeiro wins antifumo law

The governor of Rio, Sergio Cabral, endorsed on Monday (17) to antifumo law, which prohibits smoking in enclosed spaces the collective. The text was published this Tuesday (18) in the Diário Oficial do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. The law also called fumódromos extinguished. The law enters into force within 90 days after the date of publication.

The text of the bill was approved on 11 by the Legislative Assembly of Rio (ALERJ).

The law restricts the consumption of cigarettes, cigarillos, cigars or any other product smoke, or not derived from tobacco, the outdoor spaces and residences. The project is written by Governor Sérgio Cabral and was inspired by the law antifumo of São Paulo.

According to the law, places of religious worship, where tobacco use is part of the ritual, were released, and tobacconists.
